"Mother Wolf"

Timber Wolf - Minnesota

“Harmony with land is like harmony with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left. That is to say, you cannot love game and hate predators. .....The land is one organism.”   - Aldo Leopold -

No other animal captures the spirit of the North Woods like the Timber Wolf.  Perhaps it is the species free spirit that captures our imagination or perhaps it is resemblance to us in their behavior.  They hunt in cooperative packs or family units using an intricate array of body and vocal communications.  Their capacities include loyalty, selflessness, sensitivity to emotions, and a measure of forethought.  In my photography of the species I try and capture the wild spirit of the Wolf as well as the land they inhabit.
