"Shadows" Delicate Arch - Arches National Park, Utah Delicate Arch in Utah's Arches National Park is one of the most iconic views in all of America's national parks. Sunsets at the arch can be spectacular and usually draw a crowd especially during the spring and fall peak tourist times. The first time I made the mile and a half hike to the arch I was surprised to find several dozen photographers lined up three hours before sunset. In that and subsequent visits I have attempted to create unique images rather than reproduce what others have already done. On this afternoon I was first annoyed by the shadows creeping over the sandstone. As I examined the scene further I became intrigued by the unusual shape the shadows made below the arch.
