"Welcome Home!!" Red Fox Mother & Pup - Wisconsin There is a family that lives not too far from my children's school. The family grew so large last year that the mother and father had to move half the family into a second home to provide enough room for their ten kids. Even though they live within a short walk of the school the parents do all the teaching themselves. Seems like a big responsibility? It’s been a yearly undertaking for this red fox pair living in the nearby woods and meadow the past few years. Each fall as moms and dads send their children off to school these parents chase their kits away to find a new home and fend for themselves. I’ve been able to gain their trust and capture intimate, unique behavior images of this family of red fox. This image was captured upon the mother’s return to the den. Several pups would greet her with a kiss. While appearing to be a showing of affection the young were most likely wondering if mom had brought them food. Sound familiar?
